Hub City: One of many metropolises across the midwestern United States. But it has been in great decay for the last several decades, suffering from pervasive corruption and neglect. Nonetheless, it remains home to millions. This however is about to come to an abrupt end, as Trigon unleashes forth vast swathes of raw mystical power from a universe known only as The Kingdom and it's connected parts...

This is based on one DC character who was subsequently erased from the DC Universe after the "Crisis on INfinite Earths" events in 1986. As such, here is another character who has been revived for the purposes of Earth-53....

Jack Grey a.k.a. "Ultraa the Destroyer" - In 1958, a red-headed alien was launched from the planet of Almerac, and landed amongst the Koorii aborigines in Australia. He would soon develop training to become a warrior. Starting in 1978, Grey would leave his home and suddenly take up the life of a mercenary. Hired by the CIA, he served as a mercenary in Iran (1979), El Salvador (1980), Afghanistan (1981), Honduras (1983), Panama (1989), Haiti (1990), Bosnia-Hercegovina (1993),Haiti (1993), Somalia (1994), Afghanistan (2002), and Iraq (2003). He is the polar opposite of the members of the House of El. He is currently been assigned by General Wade Eiling the mission of assassinating Senator Elizabeth "LIbby" Lawrence-Chambers (D-MA). As such he is currently also working with the forces of L.E.G.I.O.N. and the Thanagarian Defense Forces under General Hro Talak. As such he is currently considered one of the "Most Dangerous Men on Earth"....

"Howard, I must reside here. I sense that this wretched labyrinth may have great significance. But we shall investigate together, if not in body then in mind.."

Another Clue For Readers...

Here is one team that was a DC franchise that was a cartoon in the year 1978, but was never implemented into the mainstream universe. For Earth-53, this adds yet another weird element to the ATL:

Freedom Force- In 1978, Brian O'Brien a.k.a. "the Clock" along with Andrea Thomas a.k.a. "Isis" began an effort to protect the space-time continuum, recruiting heroes from throughout the space-time continuum.

Clock, Hercules, Isis, Merlin, Superboy, Sinbad and the Super Samurai formed the basis of Freedom Force, a superhero team HQed in an ancient pyramid in the Valley of Time. The heroes resolved differences between science and religion, protected the time-stream, fought Giant Robots and diffused the perils that arise when foolish mortals dabble with black magic. Villains include Cagliostro, Thoth and Morgana Le Fay. Facing the threat of the armies of Trigon, led by Morgana Le Fay, the battle to defend the continuum would be never-ending.

Another Strange One...

Here is one character that might be familiar to people. Captain Action was a toy created in 1966, who was manufactured and sold through 1977. As such, he is a mysterious character who has links to both the DC and Marvel Universes. He is a character who can jump from universe to the other, with his sidekick Action Boy.

Stan Acton a.k.a. "Captain Action"- In 1966, DEO agent(Earth-53) and SHIELD agent (Earth R0-1) discovered that he had the ability to change into the forms of Superman, Batman, Spider-Man, Captain America, Aquaman, the Phantom, The Lone Ranger (and Tonto), Flash Gordon, Buck Rogers, Sgt. Fury, Steve Canyon and the Green Hornet. In 1967, with his sidekick Action Boy, he battled the forces of Doctor Evil and his insidious plans for world domination. One of his most prized possessions was the vehicle known only as "Silver Streak". When Doctor Evil disappeared via a cryogenic freeze system, Stan Acton and Action Boy followed in hot pursuit, placing themselves in cryogenic stasis until which time Doctor Evil would strike again. He would reappear in 1998, with the his abilities intact, but with the culture shock of 40 years of history being thrown at him. He is often seen as the "Ward Cleever" of any team of heroes that is placed together. He is intelligent but is frequently seen as being naive in his views of the world.

Some Strange Items...

Gregary Sanders a.k.a. "the Vigilante"- Sanders is a vigilante who considers murder, kidnapping, extortion, coercion, threats of violence and torture to be acceptable crime fighting tactics. Driven by the deaths of his wife and children, who were killed by the mob when they witnessed a gangland execution in New York City's Central Park, he wages a one-man war on the mob and all criminals in general by using all manner of weaponry. A war veteran, Sanders is a master of martial arts, stealth tactics, hand to hand combat, and a wide variety of weapons.

The Vigilante possesses the normal human strength of a man who engages in rigorous regular physical exercise. Gregory Sanders engages in a brutal regimen of calisthenics, katas and firing range practice daily, maintaining his combat skills. He possesses an exceptional ability to tolerate pain, allowing him to undergo surgery without anesthesia and to keep functioning despite injuries that would incapacitate an ordinary man. Armed solely with conventional weapons and motivated by a fanatical hatred for criminals like those who murdered his family, the Vigilante has single-handedly incapacitated up to a dozen well-armed and experienced opponents in a single encounter and escaped almost uninjured. It is his military training and his attention to detail that allows him to achieve this. His skills are such that he has repeatedly battled super-powered foes and come out victorious, despite his own lack of superhuman abilities.

The Vigilante is a seasoned combat veteran of exceptional skills. A former U.S. Marine Captain with a distinguished combat record, Sanders underwent sniper (his second tour in Vietnam was served as a sniper) and reconnaissance training while in the Corps. He also received U.S. Navy SEAL, UDT (Underwater Demolition Team), LRRP (Long Range Recon Patrol) training and airborne training with the U.S. Army and U.S. Navy Special Forces.

In the late 1990's, the US public was frustrated by the inadequacies of ordinary military forces and the lack of a professionalism among meta-human mercenaries in dealing with 'paranormal or otherwise exceptional circumstances.' Furthermore, even the government's ability to deal with conventional disasters was called into question after the 'Gotham Earthquake' and resulting 'No Man's Land' Fires of 1998. There was considerable pressure to form a government agency to deal with growing meta-human and other extraordinary problems. Consequently, one of the first acts by President Alexander 'Lex' Luthor was to establish a government-sanctioned team of meta-human professionals in 2001. The result were the Human Defense Corps (aka H.D.C.; 'the Outsiders'). They are the finest meta-human task force on the planet...

Amazo Ivo Hamilton: Amazo Ivo Hamilton is the literal brainchild of Cadmus' finest scientific minds and paranormal investigators. In 1958, they uncovered an alien "birthing matrix" on the outskirts of Smallsville, Kansas dating from twenty years earlier. Subsequent investigations uncovered similar phenomena worldwide, including the remnants of an extra terrestrial and 'ring weapon' in 1971. Through utilization of other recently discovered Appelaxian technology and massive corporate investment (e.g. Wayne Enterprises; Kord Inc.), Professors Anthony Ivo and Emil Hamilton were able to grow a humanoid by 1980. Amazo is a 'organic android,' a constantly adapting super powered being with some of the most advanced weapons in the universe at her disposal. Amazo has been credited with having been instrumental in the United States' victories in the Middle East, in particular the Invasions of Kahndaq (2002), Iraq (2003), and Qurac (2004). But while highly devoted to her fathers and country, Amazo is a highly strong willed, intelligent and has developed a potentially dangerous attraction to the non-invulnerable...

Gabrielle Doe (aka Violet Harper): Violet Harper was a run of the mill career criminal, until she made one fatal error. Born in 1983, Violet led a typical existence as a working class teenager. This changed when she became addicted to various narcotics. She soon found herself unable to sustain her habit, and alienated herself from her family. At first she engaged in petty theft in order to survive. But this soon gave way to elaborate confidence tricks. it By 1997, she was already wanted for fraud in over 35 states, and her cocaine habit had intensified. By 1999, she was plotting an escape to Mexicali but while escaping police inadvertently killed an officer before her vehicle crashed. When she awoke in the hospital, she found she was not only recovering from severe injuries but was facing a possible life sentence. But she was offered one last chance of a pardon. The catch? She would allow herself to be mind-wiped, and become a host for an energy being developed by Project CADMUS...

Barr Aparo: A noted refugee and diplomat, Barr Aparo was an unlikely candidate for the H.D.C. Brion saw his country of Markovia implode into bloody civil war following the death of the royal family in 1983. In the ensuing power struggle, Barr manifested metahuman abilities when fighting against marxist rebels in 1986. The resulting surge of tectonic activity caused by his gravitational powers caused a massive earthquake. It has been theorized that this may have been a result of the anomaly of 1968, or perhaps the recently de-classified experiments conducted by Soviet Scientists such as Dr. Helga Jayce. In any event, Barr found himself auctioning off his 'services' to the United States government in exchange for foreign intervention into his nation.

Jefferson Pierce: As an olympic decathlete with a gold medal following the 1976 Olympic Games, Jefferson Pierce could have chosen to live in luxury for the rest of his life. But he chose to move back to the Metropolis region of New York City Instead, to become a High School Teacher. The violence he found in the infamous 'Suicide Slum' appalled him, to the extent that his latent meta-human abilities manifested themselves. Enraged but unwilling to work outside the law, Pierce registered himself as a metahuman and began working with local police. He soon managed to bring an end to the control of local syndicates such as the 100. By 2000, an unaged Pierce was offered a position as Secretary of Education by newly inaugurated President Lex Luthor. Pierce agreed, but by 2002 resigned to obtain a position in another upcoming government agency -- The Department of Metahuman Affairs. There, he quickly obtained a position as leader of the reputable H.D.C.

Hunter Zoloman: Hunter Zolomon had a troubled relationship with his parents, who rarely spoke to each other or to him. On the day Hunter was to leave for college, he came home to find the police laying siege to his house. His father was a serial killer who had killed six young girls, and when his mother told the police, his father was killed after refusing to give up. Hunter became obsessed with understanding the criminal mind to stop people like his father, studying psychology and criminology in college, then joining the F.B.I. by 1998. He quickly rose through the ranks, become a prime candidate for the newly acquired 'speed force' technology based upon Dr. Barry Allen's research. This was dubbed Project ZOOM, and had been in development secretly since 1963. Utilizing a exo-skeleton that generated a 'chronal distortion field', scientists were able to give Zoloman the ability to transverse time and space at what is apparently faster-than-light speed. He was promptly drafted into the H.D.C...

ZAN: His exact origin is disputed. But there are rumors. It is said by some that his actual name is Marvin White, and that he has been genetically modified as part of Project CADMUS. Others such as media mogul and noted conspiracy theorist Oliver Queen allege that he is an alien, working covertly with the US government. Whatever the case, since 1977 ZAN has been active as part of the US government's meta-human reserves. His powers allow him to transform into nearly any liquid or water-related form imaginable, and even influence the weather. This has been instrumental in alleviating multiple natural disasters, including the 'No Mans Land' fires of 1998 in New Jersey. His partner JAYNA, currently missing in action, is believed to be anything from fellow alleged-volunteer 'Wendy Harris' to his sister.

WYLDE: Michael Pelletier was an ordinary human being, until the incident of 1968. It was then that he began to experience what he dubbed the WYLDE, periodic transformations in both body and personality into a feral grizzly-like humanoid. Pelletier began to progressively manifest this ability more, until eventually the transformation became permanent. By 1994, in order to both survive and find a possible cure, he has offered his services to the United States government...

Diana Prince ("A Wonder Woman"): In 1941, Diana Prince was born in Cliftondale, Massachusetts. After much moving around in her youth, Diana graduated with honors from Boston Latin School. She maintained her pattern of physical and academic excellence, graduating again with top honors from Yale in 1959. In 1964, she was inducted into the Central Bureau of Intelligence by 'Sarge Steel.' There, she and fellow agents 'King' Faraday, Richard Dragon and Ben Turner all conducted covert operations across the globe. By 1968, she as well as her team mates agreed to an suspended animation procedure. In 1987, they were successfully brought back. By 1994, an un-aged Diana once again agreed to a procedure that would unlock the full potential of her 'Meta Gene' as part of Project ARTEMIS. By 2006, she was partnered alongside Thomas Tresser (aka 'Nemeis') for covert missions in Kahndaq...

Actually, no one has used Donna Troy. As such, I am actually surprised. As such, what do you have in mind?

Orphan girl on the streets of Star City durring the Joker's rise to power with superpowers.

The Joker is going to find a way to get rid of her of course, to everyones benifet (except for the people of Star City.)

If anything, I just have to ask, is she going to be Harlequin?

If not, please make sure that she isn't just a pastiche of Painkiller Jane, Bomb Queen, Elektra, or the many ultra-violent female characters who are quickly becoming a cliche....

Donna Troy a.k.a. Troia and Geo-Force a.k.a. Brion Markov.

Born through a rape (her father is really Ares) Donna's first 7 years were hard and under an abusive single mother until she started a fire that consumed her mother's apartment complex and killed 16 people.

Donna used her fledgling powers to flee the blaze and survive on the streets of Star City for six years a cult of friends and sycophants grew around her.

By the time she was 13 her cult had grown numbering hundreds of orphaned children under her protection, even the Joker was scared to cross her to an extant, not that he couldn't destroy her but he had more important battles at the time.

So looking for a way to get rid of her he stumbled across a perfect solution, the 14 year old super powered prince Brion Markov.

The nation of Marvovia was a small, backwards, and corrupt nation under the control of the inbred and nasty Markov line descended from vampires who once had controlled the nation in the 1600s.

Brion was the first born son but he seemed incapable of reproducing because of a set of superpowers given to him by doctor Helga Jace before he was born, (it had seemed like a good idea at the time)

However he theoretically could reproduce with a female with superhuman strength and durability, to bad none of them wanted to mate with a spoiled 14 year old brat and be the queen of a nation nobody had heard of.

Except perhaps a homeless orphan...

The Joker arranged the meeting between them, it took Donna about 15 seconds to figure out that goddess of a bunch of hobos < princess of small nation.

She agreed to the marriage on the condition that they be married at once, Brion accepted and the parents did after realizing that this was the only chance they would probably ever have to continue there line.

Donna wanted the marriage RIGHT NOW because she was pregnant with another man's (boy's) child, her fellow orphan and boyfriend Terry Long.

After bringing her entire cult to Morvokia the two married and than had a very awkward next several years, Brion was to proud to admit his 'son' seven months premature and 6.7 pound Robert was not his own.

Markovia actually prospered after Brion took the thrown, he was probably the least nasty member of his family and Donna took charge half the time.

The nation is currently enjoying a small golden age as the nation doesn't have to spend any money on a military and very little on police while staying one of the safest in the region and getting a large amount of aid from the US in exchange for having an air base there.

The two have joined international super teams every once and a while and have a daughter Terra a.k.a. Tara Markov.

They have a passable marriage as both got what they wanted out of it and Robert is talking of joining a super team, he joined the Teen Titans but was expelled for punching out Wonderella.

He is still sore over this and considers her his arch enemy, she does not know this.

The Future Resembles Marvel...

With the fighting taking place between the Justice Legion of Earth and the Legion of Super-Heroes established under President McCauley, the 30th Century has become a source of fighting between the xenophobic Justice League and the socially tolerant Legion. Unfortunately, what is unknown to both sides is that President McCauley is actually the revived and restored version of Ras al-Ghul. In his anger, he is attempting to destroy the last remnants of the Bruce Wayne legacy. To make matters worse, accompanying him are several villians from the 20th & 21st centuries, such as Lex Luthor, who has become a disembodied cybernetic virtual being, the mysterious Black Beetle, the hero known as Supernova, the immortal Vandal Savage, and the time-traveling threat of Per Degaton. Together they stand as the Secret Six, controlling the fate of billions.

Into this scenario, President McCauley is planning to introduce Biological Intelligence Organic Nexus (BION), an artificial superhero that will be ultimately controlled by President McCauley. With the fate of the universe at large under the grasp of the Secret Six, will the Justice Legion of Earth or the Legion of Super-Heroes be able to stop the threat in time? Find out soon!!!

I can see them being yet another attempt of Batman to strength his army for the war on crime. Perhaps Jason Todd is in control as that is aroudn the 70's when the heroes are a little older.

After a climatic battle in the artic city of Atlantis, the Freedom Guardians were trapped in the final weapon of the Third Riech and thrown decades into the future, and while there they fought the intensly strong Nazi dominated world. In an attempt to return to a time to do some good, the heroes of Earth-194309 found themselves in an alternate world.

Liberty Defender- James C. Calhaun was a believer in freedom. Once a mere dock worker in New York, he went on to fight in Abraham Lincoln Brigade during the Spanish Civil War. When it was over he took to publishing his accounts, and warning the world of the horrors of what Fascism and Communits could do. A strong, and straping man he started going to the streets fighting not only the threats to Democracy, but also any injustice he saw on the streets of New York.

Major Victory- Sam Baugh was an All American, who was the grid iron king for Texas Christian College. While hardly one for words, the humble man was quick to act whenever he saw any one in danger. Over time he began wearing a uniform off the field becoming a hero for the great cities of America.

Liberty Belle- A beautiful Southern Belle from Tennessee Angelia Reily was always at odds with her family. Where they wanted a meek, and respectful child, Angelia was outspoke, and quite rash. While at a musem with her high school class, she took a dare and stole a Egyptian ring on loan to America. Upon putting it on she realized she could fly. As yet another way to act out she donned a costume and went about saving the day as the Liberty Belle.

Gray Major-Robert De Lacriox was from a fine Southern family, one who could trace its roots to a land grant in the 17th century. A playboy in the Richmond social scene, he was a staunch supporter of America getting into the war. When his nation called upon him he doned a uniform, not one seen for decades. The Gray Major the Southern Defender fights for the freedom, and liberty of America.

Rocket Ranger- Genuis inventor and teenager Mike Malone, who, though forbidden by father a Sgt. at a military airbase, was determined to fight the World War II Axis powers. Building a device using old plane parts Malone donned an aviator-styled costume and jet pack, he takes the name Rocket Ranger and becomes a superhero.

Sunflash the Magican- Howard Purcell was a stage magician, dressed like a mystic complete with a cloak, to disguise the fact that he wielded true mystical powers, passing off such feats as illusions.

Ace of Spades- Jeffrey Mace was a reporter who found no source of news for him to make his break with. Deciding to instead create his own news the plucky reporter became the Ace of Spades, and took pictures of his deeds. Starting with purse snatchers at first, he quickly made a name for himself, and quite the fortune reporting it.

Gogolth Enforcer of the Stars-Golgotha is an alien law enforcement officer from a dimension called Eskaar. While Golgotha is looking for a suitable place to exile a prisoner, he is accidentally contacted by an Earth scientist named Markham Erickson. Leaving the prisoner on the planet Jupiter, Golgotha accepts Erickson's invitation to fight crime on Earth. Seeing the planet as in need of assistance, Golgotha traveled the world using his fantastic alien powers to battle crime and injustice where ever he may find it.

Black Swordsman- Playboy Tom Hallaway had tired of seeing criminals have their own way harassing and murdering honest citizens, so he adopted the guise of the Black Swordsman to settle the score. A happy, and friendly fellow he is often heard making jokes during a fight.

Stars and Stripes- Lucy Grant, born in Hoboken, New Jersey, was secretary to District Attorney Blake Tower. Enamored with her boss and wanting to help him break cases, she surreptitiously donned a costume, and ventured out at night fighting crime. Highly athletic and seemingly trained in martial arts.

Sounds interesting, acounting for Raven as a member will be hard, she is already cannon but has only been a villian.

I think I will avoid using Jason and the other Robins though, I think I will be doing a more Young Justice fill in, and have them be a recent group.

I think I may use Raven's heel face turn as a plot point though.
