The grounded airforce

Prior to the German occupation Denmark was upgunning her air assets. Switching from bi-plane aircraft to monoplane in the last years before WWII things were indeed happening in Denmark.

Army Airforce (Flyvertropperne) had recieved 12 Fokker D XXI and was about the get another shipment of Fokkers this time light bombers/recce planes Fokker G 1 of about equal amount.

Navy Aviation (Marinens Flyvetjeneste) would trade their bi-planes for 12 Macchi 200 fighters and 12 Fairey P4/34 light bombers/recce would be manufactured locally at Orlogsværftet/Navy Yard.

Experiments had been made arming the Fokker D XXI with 2x20 mm Madsen cannon but this had proven a weigh in excess of the aircraft capability and machine guns had been resorted to.

The new aircraft was much more powerfull and the G 1 would carry a nose armament of 2x20 or 23 mm Madsen cannon and 2x8 mm MGs. In addition a rearwards firing MG could be installed.

The Macchi fighters would presumably have their .50cal italian MGs removed and Madsen 8mm MG installed instead but then be upgunned by cannon.

The Fairey P4/34 (think Fairey Fulmar as a light bomber) would carry bombs, a cannon and 2-4 MGs.

In all this would make for a decent if still small aircomponent of Danish armed forces.

The political situation however had not changed!
The government were in no mood to change its policy towards Germany - lie low and hope that they don't discover your presence. So no higher state of alert in Danish Armed Forces on April 8. Indeed the Navy air would still be ordered to keep its planes in the hangars and only Army units be destroyed on the ground.

As the German troops occupy Denmark the airassets is handed over to Germany except for one or two planes that manage to escape to Sweden.

I don't see any changes in WWII as such except internally in Denmark.
Just a little more resentment among the population as the modern Danish aircraft is painted feldgrau and enters Luftwaffe.
But post war the Socialdemocratic Party will probably experience a greater crisis of trust and lose more than 18 mandates to not only the Communist Party but also to the liberals and conservatives.
This just might make for ousting of the war-time politicians from office. And then what?
