Retrospective US Presidential Election: 1888

I plan to run through every US presidential election, two per week. The 28 elections from 1789-1896 will be run simultaneously with the 28 elections from 1900-2008. Be sure to vote in each election!

For 1789-1800, I will include in the poll everyone who received at least 5% of the electoral vote. From 1804-2008, I will include everyone who received at least 0.05% of the popular vote. Results for each election will be posted on the dedicated Retrospective US Presidential Election Results Thread (here) and compared to the actual results. The thread for general project discussion is here.

Ugh. Cleveland and Harrison are the worst Presidents of the Gilded Age. Even worse than Hayes. Only Harding, Coolidge, Hoover and arguably Wilson and George W. Bush were worse. Personally, I'd take W. over them any and every day.

Alson Streeter it is. The remains of the Greenbacks + the beginning of the socialists.

Buchanan, Andrew Johnson, Polk, and Reagan all kinda sucked pretty bad too.

Whoops, I was talking about Presidents after 1888.

I'd take Reagan over Harrison or Cleveland any day. He's the most leftwing of the three. Bush and Wilson are more leftwing than Harrison and Cleveland too, but they fucked up a lot in different areas. Harrison certainly had more to do with the 1890s depression than Bush did with our current recession. :eek: And Cleveland was almost as bad as Hoover during that recession.

Does anyone know any reason why I shouldn't vote for Clinton Fisk? I don't like socialism, so Streeter is out, and Fisk seems solid on civil rights.

Oddly, I am going to have to cast my lot in with Clinton Fisk. Can't bring myself to vote for Harrison due to differences over Civil Rights.
