More post-ACW war crimes trials

OK, how could the Union, after Appomattox, have instituted more war crimes trials for former Confederate officers, beyond Maj Henry Wirz as the CO of Andersonville POW camp ?

If the plot vs Lincoln had more success, killing the VP and Secy of State as well, the public reaction may demand more trials. And if there truly were Confederate intel services backing for the plot (something not proven but likely) then you would see a call for CSA govt officials all the way up to Davis to be tried.

It was already a farce as the senior officers at Andersonville weren't put on trial and when it came to prison camps the CSA had nothing over the USA so it's hard to see.

Actually Henry Wirtz was the only person tried and convicted after the Civil War. For war crimes and the such.
