Map Contest IV: Round IV

Map Contest IV: Round IV

Sorry for the delay guys, but that's the way it goes sometimes. Anywho...

Reminder use the Discussion Thread for all discussions, questions, etc. Violators will punished accordingly. After this post the only thing that should appear are maps that adhere to this contest. General rules for the contest can also be found in that thread.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

Here is this round's challenge:

The Romans have scored a decisive victory at Carrhae against the Parthians.

Taking into account the decisive Roman victory over the Parthians at Carrhae, and a long Roman presence in the lands between the Tigris and the Euphrates here is your challenge:

You are to choose one (or more) of the following:
  • A close-up map of the Middle East 500 years later, with at least 3 states that are not large empires present
  • An anachronistic map showing territorial changes in the empire after 500 years (one caveat: the cohesive Roman Empire must fall at some point before the 500 year anniversary of the victory at Carrhae; Byzantine-like successor empires are acceptable and encouraged) - You can if you'd like only concentrate on the eastern part of the empire instead of the whole empire, but as usual the closer you get on a map the more details there had better be.
  • A map of the religions in within what would have been the Roman Empire 1,000 years later
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
You have one week.

Remember ask any questions in the Discussion Thread.

Best of luck to all the contestants,

Chief Judge SK

Look, a map. The PNG version was a whopping 1 MB, this JPEG version is small enough to be uploaded but is also distorted, oh well.

Here's my attempt; I've had no time to pretty it up that much, but better a so-so map than none at all. Hope you like it :)

First post - hope it is received well.

It is a lucky coincidence that 500 years after 53 BC is exactly 1200 a.u.c. :)

Well apparently you've all got two hours to get a map in, but I'm having some computer issues today. So everyone might get a few extra hours...

...stupid hard drive... :sigh:

A round of applause to all our map makers as this was a bit more difficult/obscure round than others.

Now before I announce the winner just a friendly reminder to keep all congrats to the comments thread (link at the top of this thread in the first post).

But what you've all been waiting for of course is who has won.

Drum roll please.... (a blind monkey starts hitting an old oil drum)

Hopefully the next challenge will be up soon, but us judges need some time to get it worked out.
