King Charles III in America, 1775-1776

WI he shows up in person?

From 20th of April, 1775, Massachusetts was in open rebellion against King George III, and by June the other 12 colonies had joined the rebellion.

It was only on 4th of July, 1776, that the Congress formally declared all 13 States Republics - in their joint names.

Suppose King Charles III arrives sometime from Summer 1775 to May 1776.
For some Americans, he´d be an embarrassment. But would they go so far as to extradite him to King George they were waging war against?

What WAS King Charles III doing in 1775-1776 OTL, and how did he OTL react to American rebellion?

There would be several problems.

1. I do not think America was ready for a Catholic leader.

At the time of the Revolution Bonny Prince Charlie was living in Rome - a noted alcoholic, had several mistresses (at least one is suspected as a spy for George III), and wife beater (though his wife was conducting an affair with another man - which much be also an embarrassment).

Hell, Kennedy had enough problem being of Catholic Irish descent.

There were some people who I won't name did not consider Catholic Irish immigrants "Americans" - Until JFK's brain matter exited his head - then Catholics were suddenly and magically made "Americans".

2. There would be an Asking of "You and what army?"

Charlie was a broken man after '45. He was not the man he used to be - alcoholism was only one of his vices. There would be little to no military support for a second rising or aid for the American cause.

3. The American Rebels were not looking for another "King" - if they were, "King George Washington" would be the top of the to do list, even if Washington refused the title, they would force him to take the title.
