DBWI : No isfahan bomb and iranian diplomats murder, impact on us-iran relationship ?

for those who knows the isfahan bombing was often cited as the turning point of the middle east politic. as since the killings of iranian diplomats in 1999, the country had growing hate of the talibans. and by then they supported, even though secretly, the anti taliban movements across Afghanistan. iranian trains many of high ranking agents and soldiers to combat the taliban.

the purpose of the isfahan bomb was meant to kill massoud and many anti taliban leaders that was in meeting with the iranians. in truth however, when the bomb arrived, most of the afghan leaders with the exception of low ranking anti taliban leaders, was already left for tehran. and as such when the bomb hit, most of 253 victims were iranians. many of them were high ranking officials. and as such from that day on, the iranians began openly support anti taliban movements across afghanistan. including openly sending soldiers to afghanistan.

thing began to take an interesting turn 1 year later during the post 9/11 invasion. the iranian openly support the us to combat the taliban. many experts to this day credit the iranian goverment as to the success of combanting the taliban in afghanistan. indeed this was said by even massoud himself after his ascension as the president.

the real turn was when iran join in the iraq invasion, under the banner of stopping the "shia genocide" in iraq. indeed when the wmd excuse started to getting weaker, the us pull the same iranian excuse to justify the invasion. and the us iranian relationship is closer and closer ever since.

the us and iranian closer relationship impacted the us relationship with the israeli and saudi arabia, both of which have no love for iran. and so when the secreat deal of cooperation between the israeli and the saudi was leaked, many experts express no suprise of such event happening. and most recently to add to the burning fire, the us (many believe this was the result of iranian lobbies) began to slowly develop relationship with the palestinian. most recently, the us under trump openly recognized the palestine full with the entire west bank under the palestinian territory. need less to say everybody remember how chaotic that day was.

regardless, this doth raise the question : what would happen if the diplomats still alive ? what if there is no isfahan bomb ? what would the middle east look like ?
