April 19 , 1901-- Law is passed making ladder making a crime punishable by death........by ladder !
April 25th - 29th 1901 - The great ladder rebellion - Ladder makers and ladder users are angry over the ladder ban and declare themselves independent with all ladder ban laws torn up. They start rebellions throughout Europe. Ladder makers realise that ladders are good at besieging opponent buildings. The rebellion ends when the ringleaders are trapped on Eiffel Tower after an 8 year old finds it funny to knock their ladder over. A truce is negotiated over the next twelve hours, the readers inclined to agree due to the boredom of being stuck up there all that time with no other way to get down than to accept the terms.

June 15th, 1901. The Shima returns, badly damaged from fighting Chinese Pirates. The Japanese High Command demands a harsh response, while others suggest that Qing China is another victim, not the enemy. Prime Minister Taro Katsura is stern Imperialist, however, and the Japanese Navy begins a suspicious field exercise...
