Commies in Earlier Times: A collaborative TL

I suddenly got the idea of a communist state in 1790s France, based on either Robespierreism or Maratism. Is that possible?

Can communism arise even earlier? Maybe in the Incan Empire? Why do we only percieve states as communist after 1917?

Communism can arise whenever people get the idea of it, and they've had those sorts of ideas since Plato at least. There just has to be a movement towards it, that has enough popular support.

If Aranfan's idea finds more support, let us make a collaborative TL based on an early Communist state. The earlier the state, the better.
