Better Alien/Predator franchise in the 90s

I was looking at the critical ratings for the Alien and the Predator movies on RottenTomatoes.

They are:

Alien (1979) - 97%
Aliens (1986) - 98%
Alien 3 (1992) - 46%

Predator (1987) - 78%
Predator 2 (1990) - 25%

As you can see, Alien 3 and Predator 2 were disappointments. And of course, the less said about the Alien Vs Predator movies the better.

But what if things went differently, for the better?

Instead of Alien 3 being a depressing prison setting, what if it was a crossover with Predator? And what if it was actually a good movie?

I propose a Point of Divergence in 1990 with Predator 2 being a much better movie with a way better response from critics and the audience. It would still feature a cameo of the Xenomorph skull on board the Predator spaceship as a teaser for things to come.

The success of a good Predator sequel and the sparked interest of Alien meeting Predator would in turn lead to crossover movie being made instead of Alien 3. Since the entire point of this What If is a better outcome, we will assume that it is actually a very good and successful movie.

As such, the new and improved cinematic timeline would be:

1979 - Alien
1986 - Aliens
1987 - Predator
1990 - Predators
1992 - Alien vs Predator

Of course, this could (and most likely would) lead to a massive franchise with various sequels, spin-offs, etc. In fact, what if this became the first Cinematic Universe, nearly two decades before Marvel would create one?

What would the effects of this be? Would the success of such a franchise lead to other studios making their own crossovers? As we all know, in OTL the success of the Marvel Cinematic Universe has led other studios to attempt to make their own shared universes.

The problem is, you're just penciling in a better Predator 2 movie without explaining the differences in production team, values, plot, direction, or casting choices that would cause these improvements.

You can simply assume a screwdriver, but the changes to that movie will influence the production of any hypothetical Alien vs. Predator(1992) in any number of ways, so that would be inadvisable.

Well, yes?

Of course they will influence it, that's the idea. The premise is that for one reason or another the entire process from start to finish has the best possible outcome.
