Why does Peacock want to adapt Walt Kelly’s Pogo for television, and how faithful will it be?
Answer:
Peacock's hope was that they could introduce the franchise to a new audience after years of dormancy since the passing of Walt Kelly.
In the mid-2000's, while Blanche Boudreaux was at Warner Bros. working on the Berenstain Bears, Peacock wanted to hire her for a proposed Pogo reboot. But when Blanche wanted her big brother Gus St. Pierre to voice the main character to attract more viewers, the higher-ups at Peacock balked because they felt his asking price would be too high.
So Blanche passed on the project and instead moved on to Nelvana where she and Lauren Faust developed My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. Since then, the Pogo reboot died for a little bit, only to be brought back for the Bozo revival later this year.
