Age of consent abolish in the 1970s

I was reading Wikipedia recently about the hippie movement in 1970s.
It talks about usual like free love, drugs, you know whatever.
But then it talks about how they didn't believe in the age of consent. This horrified me. Then I learned about how France Had the largest age abolitionist movement of all time. A bunch of famous philosophers were apparently apart of it. It actually succeeded in some countries. Apparently child porn was legal until 90s in some countries.
What if this movement didn't fizzle out?
Like let's say that McGovern somehow wins and embraces it full stop. Or the French Communists embrace it.
Just so the mods know I don't support this and I am genuinely horrified by this.

I'm not trolling. I'm genuinely serious.
I was reading Wikipedia and apparently this was a real thing. It was a big part of the sexual revolution too. The idea was that the age of consent is arbitrary and children can understand sex just as adults do.
This has obviously been disproven but it still happened.

I acknowledge that this is implausible and would actually destroy the political party that advocated this and just want to talk about the age of consent petition in France

If there's no punishment for grooming and abuse of children, then I foresee pedophilia would become a major problem for any country that decides to abolish its age of consent laws. I definitely see this causing a major public relations disaster for whatever party advocates for it.

It wouldn't get passed anyway. If it did it would probably just be modeled on bestiality laws. If it doesn't hurt the child it's legal.
Yes this is absolutely terrible.

There are far worse reasons to hate the French. But this is one of them.
