So out of 52k-strong Austrian army in Slavonia, 18k became casualties. That left 34k men in sorry state, few cannons and fewer horses. It seems that the Austrians were routed and their army disintegrated. The same happened at Wallachia with the lost of all cannons. They seemed to be so ineptly...
I don't get this. After the battle the Austrians lost 11k men and ended up without artillery. Why did Koca Yusuf left for Moldova immediately without destroying the rest of the Austrian army? I mean Austria still had 75k men on the field.
I am eagerly waiting for an update :)
Usually all the POD about Muslim empires are centered around the Ottomans. This one is different AND it starts with the fall of Granada. So will it rise again?
Update please! :)
Things are getting interesting. I really can't see OE "selling" Libya, that would be a tremendous blow to the Sultan's image. He can't be seen selling muslims to the infidels :p
On the other hand, what is the military capability of OE ITTL? I mean, is it stronger than the OTL? If OE is caught...
So I was just wondering, about the size of non-muslim population of OE at this time. If I'm not mistaken, it was said that 75% of the population is muslim (of varying sects and schools). So that leaves 25% non-Muslim.
Of these 25% non-muslim, I think only about 15%-20% lives in the Balkan...
Things are getting interesting for the Ottomans. Now that the Russians had gotten their prestige back, and ally themselves with France, will they try to go south once more.
The Ottomans are more powerful and industrialzed in 1907 then in 1877 but so are the Russians. If, however, the Russians...
I would venture to say that revolutionary france would probably be defeated. Conservative elements in the French army and society would probably not going to fight if the other side flew the tricolour and had the king with them.
While I don't know much about the value of money in this time, I remember that France was made to pay 5 billion francs to Prussia in the 1870 war.
At the time it was considered an astronomical sum, yet France managed to pay it in just 5 years, leading to considerable consternation in Prussia...
The Ottomans would have been more successful in holding on to their Balkan possessions IF they had defeated Russian in 1877.
If they were successful in that war, I believe that Europe would see the Ottomans in a new light. No longer as the sickman of Europe. After all, how many countries went...
I guess now OE will be moving against Russia huh?
But probably it's better if OE destroyed Austria first, or have a peace with her, so OE will not be fighting in two fronts.
Btw, can OE lainch a land attach against Venice?
Splendid! :)
Don't worry about your english. As long as it can still be understood, it's enough :)
Double encirclement huh?
But how did the Ottomans managed to besiege the besiegers? Why didn't the Holy League Army attack first?
The Indians in India, Indonesians and other African people under European Empires were NEVER given legal and political equality. Why should the Ottomans?
If they can do a Meiji, whoever going to notice that the Koreans were second class citizen under Japan?
Might makes right!
