I don't think Ohio needs much improvement. Maybe reduce the numbers of stars, but overall it's a good flag.

Now that is nice. I like it. Here's my suggestion for Hawaii: Didn't want to mess with the original too much. It's old and has history. But you can't have a British flag, that's just silly. So it's a circle of eight white stars on a field of blue instead. One star for each major...

Hmm... Seals are never a good idea. They are too complex to be easily recognisable from a distance. You simply don't need that much detail on a flag. Granted the coloured stripes help set the thing apart anyway, but maybe replace the seal with something else? How about a couple of stars...

I found it actually looked better with a somewhat thick white border instead. Like this: The thin border just looked weird. It is maybe a bit evocative of the CSA though...

My suggestion for Florida, drawing on both the current flag and the Bonnie blue of West Florida, as well as having quite the American feel to it I think. What do you think?

The Illinois centennial one looks pretty good. Personally I don't really like flags that are as oblong as that one, but it's nice nonetheless. The new Virginia flag there I quite like. Good job! As for Florida the problem is that if you do the current one and just remove the seal it's...

If I remove the scroll the anchor will be off centre, and I wanted to change as little as possible. Besides I think the scroll looks rather neat, even without any words on it. But I agree, in this case the text could stay.

Ah, yes, I took out the HOPE because I'm opposed to text on flags as a general principle. But really it's not a prominent feature of the flag so it wouldn't hurt too much to have it stay.

A couple of more goes at playing with the colours of the Rhode Island flag: With the gold stars with a blue border I talked about earlier. Same stars but with the outer border changed back to the gold. And the same, but with an internal blue border (wouldn't make any sense...

Well, it's just a digital reproduction of the old flag using the tree from the Maine maritime merchant flag (why a state would need one of those I don't know). But I get your point. It's a bit too simple, maybe. Still, you have to admit it's better than a fucking seal on a blue background!

I think that's actually a compliment for a flag. All the best flags are easily reproducible by children with crayons. ;)
