Peace on our Terms

What, realistically, would Charles Evans Hughes' Presidency have looked like had he been elected in 1916 and defeated Woodrow Wilson?

1.) Would he have ended WWI with a negotiated peace in 1917? If so, what would the peace have looked like.

2.) Would the United States have failed to enter the war? If so, what do the post-war years in Europe look like.

3.) Would he have reacted slower and the war have lasted longer?

4.) What would a less harsh peace treaty have looked like? Would Germany keep the Kaiser, or its OTL lost lands?

5.) He would certainly have been less idealistic and Anglophilic than Wilson. Would any peace have been less harsh? Would WW2 still occur?

6.) Would the League of Nations be formed? Would the US enter such an entity in this ATL?
