No refined sugar

Is there a possibility that refined sugar would not have become a major product?

Possible good consequences of this include much less likelyhood of an especially brutal slave regime in the Carribean and much better human health in general and dental health in particular

What and throw so many dentists into unemployment?

Sugar could've been delayed until slavery is no longer an option but not much further. So the dental aspect of the WI is insoluble. Without sugar they'd be no rum which according to Churchill was one the three pillars of Royal Navy in the Age of Sail.
